Change, Rebirth, Instinct, Prowess, Strength

Python Diaries was conceived and written during a period when I was producing and writing for genre/period-specific projects, more specifically, 70s Reggae. Although I thoroughly enjoyed doing those projects, I often felt my creativity was limited by the rhythms and instruments of that era. Python Diaries was a break, refuge, if you will, from those limitations. Also as a python owner I wanted to explore the change, rebirth, instinct, and prowess that the python possess.

Python Diaries is an adventure in many ways from the known to the unknown; inspired by actions between myself and the pythons. It explored aspects of my awakening to what I was sharing with them; the vibes of thought, desire, touch, and trust that I recorded, for the most part, in the blazing heat of a Midwestern American summer. As death creates life, I include the sounds of snakes hissing and rats screaming after being coiled for the last time. This life and death drama inspired me to re-study the Damballah and the python temples of West Africa. Death gives way to life.
