about

Conscious lyrics, hard hitting rhythms, and a unique blend of Progressive Roots, current and vintage Dancehall with influences of Hip Hop are what makes Hope Massive's debut album, itany, stand out from the pride.

Using Roots and Dancehall as a foundation, Hope Massive has managed to create an album that effortlessly flows from Roots Reggae, to Dancehall, Dub, hip-hop and to surf rock. The musical versatility of itany, combined with positive themes, produces a fresh sound that steps outside of the box while remembering its roots.

► PRESS REVIEWS of "itany":

Voted No.2 of the Top 20 Reggae releases in 2009 - WNCW-FM

"It's a nice set of all-original material...Social conviction weighs in the lyrics of songs like "Burn Up the Lies", "Some May Say", "Never Give It Up", "and "Inna Trenches."...Rock influences but this is reggae music all the way particularly in the messaging of songs like "Are You Livin Up", "Mission" and "Every Iwah."
- Chuck Foster, THE BEAT

"One of the area's most solid live acts, Hope Massive, has finally committed their pulsing roots reggae sound to disc with 2008's "itany". Booming with fiery, crisp dancehall grooves and laden with relevant social commentary, "itany" brims with energy and would be a welcome addition to any reggae fan's collection."
- David Brewer, High Country Press

Just like there music, Hope Massive demonstrates there ability to maintain positivity while mashing up the dance floor; delivering beautiful melodies, luscious harmonies and explosive lead lines to create a unique and original sound. The intensity of the rhythm section creates evocative grooves that cannot be denied by young-old, black-white, red-yellow, poor or wealthy. People music for the People.

Hope Massive's creation was a true blessing, with members originating throughout the nation. Adding colorful personalities across the spectrum; they collectively linked up in the mountains of Boone, NC while attending Appalachian State University. Each member was involved with respectable music projects of there own even before the formation of Hope Massive that still exist to this day. With the common goal of Highya Meditation and making powerful music to influence the people through mind, body, and soul Hope Massive was born.

Combining reggae, current and ancient events, vintage dancehall, rock, Latin jazz and other world music, Hope Massive has created a formula for a promising yet challenging mission...to make the people think, dance and feel through there music. Originality, humbleness, and hard-work are crucial in the development of Hope Massive's music, vision, and longevity.

"Hope Massive brings the positive life force with those tight reggae & hip hop beats."
- Lori McKinney, HOME GROWN MUSIC NETWORK: SHOW REVIEW - ASHEVILLE MUSIC JAMBOREE

"The immensely danceable, soul-stirring Hope Massive blends roots and dancehall, reggae and world music to create a groovy feel-good whole. While each of the five members boasts an impressive musical resume, it's their collective creation that's forged this new rhythmic musical consciousness."
- Mountain Xpress

"Their songs are strong both lyrically and musically, bolstered by perfect timing and poignant messages... Check out Hope Massive for a show that's full of massive talent and energy."
- Francesca Soroka, Encore

"The band mixes elements of traditional reggae like the dance hall shout out, trumpet flourishes and long snaky bass lines with newer styles like progressive rock and modern ska. It is a mix that is at once infectious and soothing, with a sound that gets people out of their chairs in a hurry. Hope Massive is currently riding a wave of success that could explode into national recognition sooner than later."
